The Village on Adams is excited at the prospect of Adams Street becoming Toledo's first Outdoor Refreshment Area. We see it first as a development tool for our neighborhood and for the city as a whole. We have been working closely with the bar owners, business owners, residents, and institutions on our street as well as the City, Toledo Police Department, and the Chamber of Commerce to make sure any possible concerns are addressed before this proposal moves forward. We understand this is a process and that certain aspects may need to be adjusted and we are completely open to any input, ideas or suggestions from the community to make sure our neighborhood stays safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone.
The Adams Street Outdoor Refreshment Area is a 10 block section of Adams St from 11th to 21st Street designated to allow people to purchase alcoholic drinks from one of the 5 establishments (Wesley's, Manhattan's, The Attic, The Ottawa Tavern, and Bretz) and allow for those beverage to be taken outside and enjoyed along Adams. The ORA will help further establish Adams Street and Uptown as a destination for Toledoans and visitors to the City.
ORA hours are from 5p to 1a Monday through Friday, and 12p to 1a Saturday, Sunday, and during Special Events, such as 419 Day.
A designated cup will be the only allowed beverage container for ORA participants.
Open refreshments may not be brought into any establishment, regardless of the nature of those establishments.
All boundaries will be clearly marked, and, if crossed with an open refreshment, violators face misdemeanor charges and fines.
Complete security and sanitation plans will accompany the ORA, with specific aspects tailored to accommodate the varied and unique elements of our neighborhood.
